Is hipages worth it for tradies in 2026?
hipages is worth it for a tradie who needs work this week, has a full profile and reviews, and whose average job is big enough that a shared lead costing you a few price-competing quotes still pays. It stops being worth it once you are established, because every lead is shared with up to three businesses and you pay a membership whether you win the job or not. The alternatives are other shared marketplaces, Google Local Services Ads, or exclusive leads from your own ads.
- Membership from about $139 to $649 a month ex GST (July 2026 reviews of the published packages), plus credits per lead. Six-month intro term, then 12-month renewals.
- Every lead goes to up to three businesses, so you are quoting against two rivals on price from the first call.
- Worth it: brand new, need cashflow, high average job value. Not worth it: established, tired of price races, can fund your own channel.
- Oneflare, the main lookalike, was retired by Airtasker on 30 June 2026, so the shortlist is shorter than it was.
How hipages actually charges you
hipages is a membership plus credits model. Public July 2026 reviews of its packages list four tiers, roughly $139 (Starter), $249 (Advanced), $449 (Premium) and $649 (Platinum) a month ex GST, each with a monthly credit allowance and a set number of postcodes. Leads are paid for in credits, and hipages does not publish a fixed price per lead. Reviewers report individual leads running anywhere from about 40 to over 100 credits, which on the smallest plan can mean only a handful of leads a month before top-ups.
The contract matters as much as the price. Membership starts on a six-month introductory term and then auto-renews for twelve months at a time. Cancelling mid-term can leave the remaining fees due. Read that clause before you sign.
The shared-lead problem, in numbers
Each hipages lead is capped at three businesses. That sounds fair until you do the maths: you pay for the lead, two rivals pay for the same lead, and the homeowner now has three quotes side by side. The cheapest quote gets a disproportionate share of those jobs regardless of reviews. Reviewers put the win rate for a tradie quoting against two others at roughly one in three. So a $40 lead you win one time in three is really a $120 cost per won job, before you count the time spent quoting the other two.
That is why the headline lead price on any shared platform understates the true cost. Divide what you spend by jobs won, not leads received.
When hipages is worth it
- You are new and need work this week. It is one of the fastest ways to get a first enquiry with no ad account, no landing page and no offer to write.
- Your average job is large. If a job is worth $2,000 or more, losing two out of three shared leads still leaves the numbers working.
- You treat it as one channel, not the channel. A complete profile, a steady flow of reviews, and fast replies lift your share of the shared leads.
When it is not worth it
- You are established. Once you can fund your own lead channel, paying a membership to compete on price for customers you never get to keep stops making sense.
- Your jobs are small or fast. For trades with a $150 to $400 ticket, a shared lead you win one time in three eats most of the margin.
- You cannot reply fast. On a shared lead the first tradie to call usually wins. If you are on the tools all day with no auto-reply, you are funding your rivals.
The alternatives (shared and exclusive)
- Other shared marketplaces: ServiceSeeking (subscription plus per-lead), Service.com.au (subscription, no per-lead charge), Airtasker (service fee on completed work). Same shared-lead maths, different fee structures. Oneflare was retired into Airtasker on 30 June 2026.
- Google Local Services Ads: pay per verified lead, no subscription, Google Guaranteed badge. Still not exclusive, but no lock-in.
- Google Business Profile and reviews: free, slow to build, and the leads are yours. Every tradie should have this running underneath whatever else they do.
- Your own ads with exclusive leads: Google or Meta ads to a landing page, so the enquiry only ever reaches you. Costs more per lead than a shared platform, but you are not racing anyone. This is what Tradley runs for you.

Tradley’s Speed-to-Lead engine runs the ads for your trade and town and answers every lead by SMS in under 60 seconds from your own number. You see leads, cost per lead and what turned into paid jobs, so you can compare it honestly against any marketplace on cost per won job.
Frequently asked questions
How much does hipages cost per lead?
hipages does not publish a fixed price per lead. Leads are paid in credits from your monthly allowance, and July 2026 reviews report individual leads running from about 40 to over 100 credits depending on trade and job size.
How many tradies get each hipages lead?
Up to three. Every lead is capped at three businesses, so you are usually quoting against two others.
Can I cancel hipages any time?
Not freely. Membership starts on a six-month introductory term and then auto-renews for twelve months. Cancelling mid-term can leave the remaining fees due, so check the current terms before you sign.
What is the best hipages alternative for exclusive leads?
Running your own ads (Google or Meta) to a landing page, so the enquiry only reaches you. It costs more per lead than a shared marketplace but you are not competing on price. A done-for-you service like Tradley does this for you and keeps one operator per trade per town.
Is Oneflare still an option?
No. Airtasker retired Oneflare on 30 June 2026 and redirected it to Airtasker.
Package prices, credit ranges, the three-business cap and contract terms are from public July 2026 reviews of hipages’ published packages (kingtradie.com, 20minutemarketing.com.au) and customer ratings on productreview.com.au and trustpilot.com. Oneflare closure per the Airtasker Support Centre notice. These are external references, not Tradley results. hipages is a trademark of hipages Group; Tradley is not affiliated.
